Working with Nonprofits to Make Our World a Better Place

The nonprofit, philanthropic sector is the part of our society that is responsible for building community, preserving culture, healing the sick, ensuring social justice, caring for the environment, providing opportunities, educating our children – and ourselves, and operating religious and all public-benefit institutions. In essence, this sector, by working with individuals and organizations, focuses on what it means to be human, to engage with the world around us, and to make our communities, our nation – and the world –a better place.

Fundraising is the activity within this sector that provides the fuel to keep these organizations alive, healthy, sustainable and able to meet their missions.  Fundraising is not a mysterious function that can be done by only a gifted few. It is just a name for something each of us does all the time – and that is building relationships.  My job as a consultant is to instill confidence in both board and staff, to provide them with the tools they need to succeed in building these relationships and to help plan and guide the process.
